Geospatial Analysis in the Social Sciences and the Humanities

The Anthropology department at UNLV offers a space for developing research on geospatial sciences applied to social sciences and, in particular, to anthropological research. Here, you can find course information, geospatial resources, and research done by students.

The Digital Cartographies and Spatial Analysis Research Laboratory is a cutting-edge research facility focused on utilizing advanced spatial analysis tools. Our primary aim is to apply these tools to various disciplines within the social sciences and humanities, with a particular emphasis on archaeological research. Our laboratory is dedicated to innovating traditional research practices in these fields. We strive to adapt tools and methodologies originally designed for engineering, computational sciences, and other hard sciences, applying them to the study of social interactions, history, text analysis, and qualitative data management.

As a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, our laboratory brings together experts from a wide range of backgrounds, including those from STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) as well as the humanities.

We are located at Wright Hall, John S. Building B, room 110 (WRI-B110) , the same building of the Anthropology Department Offices.
