Dr. Gabriela Oré Menéndez (She/Her/Ella)
Dr. Oré Menéndez is a Peruvian archaeologist working in satellite remote sensing, AI applications to archaeology, queer theory, and disability studies in archaeological practice. Her research focuses on understanding spatial inequalities in past landscapes and local communities’ responses in the face of extensive social changes. Dr. Oré Menéndez’s experience in Spatial Analysis, Satellite Remote Sensing, Digital Scholarship, and Digital Humanities offers a unique perspective on the application of digital initiatives for social sciences and spatial analysis research and outreach.
Graduate Students
Leah Barajas (They/Them/Theirs)
Leah is a Master’s graduate student enrolled in the Anthropology program in hopes to become a Museum Curator. They are interested in learning about the object/archive acquisition process for museums, as well as exhibit organization and the importance of curating informative displays for a wide audience. Their goal is to preserve culture and history through museum curation, while encouraging museum audiences to want to learn more about what they see. They currently work as a collections assistant at a local museum in Las Vegas and they are very passionate about museum work as a whole.
Undergraduate Students
Ana Takev (She/Her)
Ana is a senior double-majoring in Physics and Anthropology. Her academic interests include 3D modeling, 3D printing, geography, and osteology. She plans to continue developing her 3D modeling skills and exploring their applications in archaeology and other real-world contexts.
Olivia Martin (Sher/Her)
Olivia is an undergraduate junior student double-majoring in Anthropology and Art History. Her interests in academia include digital archives, photography, conservation, and the exploration of iconography. She plans to create digital exhibition catalogs and continue developing her skills with archival software.
